ABOUT
My Creative Curriculum is owned and operated by a certified teacher, Cristie Whittier. The vision of this company came about when Mrs. Whittier began teaching art classes at summer camps, colleges, and art galleries. Each art class was created with content connections to other subject areas such as history and science. She quickly saw how students would fall in love with learning if given the opportunity to be creative and hands-on. By using a multi-sensory approach, real-life connections, positive reinforcement, patience, and gentleness, Mrs. Whittier is able to help your child succeed in Science, ELA, Mathematics, Social Studies, History, and Fine Art.
My CC program offers social painting events, group and private art classes for children, teens, and adults, birthday parties, field trips, meetings, and art history classes. We tutor individuals as well as small groups. Take advantage of our discounts when joining a homeschool class. Classes are held in Mrs. Whittier's studio as well as mobile and virtual options. Classes are differentiated for an inclusive environment. We welcome guest teachers who specialize in areas that go beyond My Creative Curriculum!
We know that it can be important for parents to make sure their student is on track with the common core standards. Mrs. Whittier can evaluate your student's progress level through quick assessments and provide a lesson plan for any possible misconceptions. My CC program does NOT focus on learning for the test, but to become a lifelong learner.

Mrs. Whittier

Hello! Welcome to my class. This is a safe space to explore the academic curriculum through various pedagogy techniques including kinesthetic movement, artistic creativity, and using manipulatives. In other words, HAVING FUN!
Credentials:
*BSED (Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education)
*ESOL endorsement (English to Speakers of Other Languages)
*AST (Associate in Specialized Technology) for Graphic Design.
*I am a follower of Jesus Christ, a wife of a mathematician/technical engineer, and a mother of an 11-year-old daughter.
I spent five years teaching diverse learners in B&M schools. A passion of mine is to help struggling students gain comprehension of the material. It is important to me that the students feel confident and excited to learn. This can be easily accomplished through teaching multi-sensory lessons.

Philosophy: Non-violent communication is the backbone of my teaching style. Some of my inspirations include RIE (Respectful Infant Education), Montessori, Capturing Kids Hearts, and Orton-Gillingham. I believe it is important to challenge students in a fun and creative way that will complement academic goals. Peaceful communication and positive reinforcement encourage student growth. Most of all, learning can be REALLY FUN!
Fun Fact: I am a maker of things! I love making stuff like dolls, clothes, food, bread, books, posters, and more! I tend to paint anything that looks plain to me. I love refurbishing and recycling. I think it is a gift to use what is available in order to create less waste.
